How to Apply Patterns Created in Photoshop to Vector Images in Illustrator

What up, guys?! So when I learn a new trick in Adobe Creative Suite, I love to share it with my fellow creatives and designers.  I wanted to apply a pattern that I created in photoshop to an image or text I created in Adobe Illustrator.  You can use a clipping mask, but to me, it requires too many steps. I applied my patten that I created in Photoshop to an image in Illustrator in under 3 minutes! Y'all, 3 minutes after 20 minutes trying to figure out how to apply a clipping mask in Illustrator.

One thing I learned is that Adobe Creative Suite has a great way of integrating all of its applications. You can drag and drop images within Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.  I mean, that is soooooo amazing and it makes it so easy to use interchangeably.

For this tutorial, you will need:

  • Adobe Photoshop
    • For creating your pattern.
  • Adobe Illustrator
    • Make sure your Swatches Panels is open.
    • Adobe Illustrator < Window <  ✓ Swatches

In this video, you will learn how to...

I really hope this tutorial helped you create beautiful things for your next project, your client, or for fun! If you have questions, please comment below!
